Background

Realizing that their schoolmates are in great stress during exam period, the team hoped to motivate students by offering stress reduction workshops and free drinks, in aim of providing students with a place to relieve stress during the stressful period of time.

Objective

This project aimed at promoting the importance of mental well-being among CUHK students in general, raising students’ awareness of mental health, and encouraging students to express their difficulties and seek help from others. It also intended to offer opportunities for students to slow down their pace, focus on one’s emotional needs and care about other schoolmates.

Methodology

Two stress reduction workshops and six days of Hot Drinks Sharing Event were organized around busy periods to help ease students’ anxiety and to show support for them. Two issues of Take It Easy (TIE) booklets on university adaptation and depression were published and distributed to students, so that they can become more aware of the importance of mental well-being.

Impacts and Outcomes

The participants of the workshops felt much relieved and the students who got hot drinks also felt supported in times of stress and heavy workload. The TIE booklets were widely circulated, and had promoted the importance of mental well-being among students and encouraged students to open up to others if needed.
